Lego Larfleeze Wants All the Studs

I was playing Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes and trying to unlock everything. One of the accomplishments I've made so far is that I have unlocked all of the Red Bricks that activate the Stud Multipliers.

The best part about the stud multipliers, of course, is that when you have all of them activated at the same time, it results in the number of studs you collect becoming 3,840 times the amount.

We all know that your standard Lego currency is that silver studs are worth 10, golden studs 100, blue studs are worth 1,000, and that the rarest purple studs are worth 10,000. With all of the stud multipliers purchased and activated, however, this means that every silver is worth 38,400, every gold is worth 384,000, every blue is worth 3,840,000, and that every purple is worth 38,400,000.

The best part of this feature is that the crapload of studs it will get you will make it easier to buy all the characters, Red Bricks, and vehicles, so that grinding for all the studs you need no longer becomes an arduous task.

Getting 100% completion on one of Traveler's Tales' Lego games never seemed so easy.

I drew Larfleeze, the sole member of the Orange Lantern Corps, because he is one of the confirmed characters in the upcoming Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, and I figured that since his Corps is powered by greed, he would probably approve of something that gets him an assload of studs, especially since studs are the Lego games' currency.

To say that I will be looking forward to Lego Batman 3 would be a big understatement (I actually wish I could move time forward so I could get a copy now!), but before I explain why I am interested, I'll give a quick time to describe what made the previous two Lego Batman games special and how awesome the Lego games are in general.

Basically every Lego game is decent. You got tons of interesting characters to unlock, some with special abilities that can be useful in helping you find all the hidden items and some that are simply fun to play as. The humorous cutscenes also add to the fun.

The first Lego Batman game, Lego Batman: The Video Game, did not really have much of a plot, but was still fun. This was back when Lego games had no dialogue, so the best plot they had to give without words was that several of Batman's enemies broke out of Arkham Asylum and went their own ways to plan an evil scheme and stop Batman.

Batman goes after three gangs of his escaped enemies in the game.

The first team is led by the Riddler and also consists of Clayface, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, and Two-Face. The second team has The Penguin as the leader with his cohorts being Bane, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, and Catwoman. The third and final gang consists of Killer Moth, Mad Hatter, Scarecrow, and Harley Quinn with their leader being the Joker.

All three of the leader villains have their own evil plan: The Riddler wants to steal all the gold in Gotham Bank, the Penguin wants to activate an army of robot penguins to terrorize Gotham City, and the Joker wants to spread laughing gag throughout Gotham City. Batman thwarts all of their plans individually and sends all of the crooks back to Arkham Asylum, where they belong.

There were quite a lot of humorous moments in this game. For me, one of the funniest scenes was when the Riddler was showing the over villains a slideshow of his plan, only to find that a picture of him on the toilet somehow got in.

And there was also the attempt at longevity by featuring a Villains Mode, where you played the story from the perspective of the bad guys while also explaining some of the plot holes in the regular story mode. I have the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS versions and I have achieved 100% completion in neither version.

Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes, attempted to surpass the first game by making other DC heroes and villains playable and having the game take place in a wide-open sandbox Gotham City. It really floats your boat over whether or not this was a successful sequel.

I appreciate the inclusion of DC characters besides Batman and his allies and enemies and I also approve of the characters actually having dialogue so as to tell a better story, but I felt that the game had some areas of missed potential.

Gone is the Villains Mode, but the main story is still pretty awesome. Bruce Wayne beats Lex Luthor at getting the Man of the Year trophy, so Lex responds by breaking the Joker out of Arkham and having him assist in his plan for both revenge and world domination.

Lex Luthor also proves himself to be quite a serious villain. He and the Joker actually discover the Batcave and destroy it with Luthor's invention the Deconstructor, and that same weapon is nearly used to tear Batman apart!

But fortunately, Superman helps Batman out and they thwart the election tampering to ensure that Lex doesn't become president. And when Luthor and Joker try to take out Batman and Superman, Justice League members the Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and Cyborg are summoned by J'onn J'onzz to put a stop to the villains' actions.

And they end by hinting towards another sequel by showing Brainiac looking at Earth and stating that he has "located it". I have Lego Batman 2 on the Xbox 360 and Nintendo 3DS.

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, intends to take things a step further, as it will have the player be able to explore the entire DC universe, will feature over 150 playable characters, and will feature some bonus levels based on the 1960's Batman television show, with Adam West not only reprising his role, but also playing a minifigure version of himself!

The basic story is that Brainiac is out to shrink all of the planets in the universe, and part of his scheme is to take over the seven Lantern Corps. Here is a list of Lantern Corps in order of color they appear in the rainbow with confirmed playable members.

Red Lantern Corps: Atrocitus and Bleez.

Orange Lantern Corps: Obviously, only Larfleeze, though Glomulus may be playable (emphasis on "may", as there is no confirmation at the moment and this suggestion is merely a conjecture on my part).

Sinestro Corps: Sinestro and Arkillo.

Green Lantern Corps: Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and Kilowog.

Blue Lantern Corps: Saint Walker.

Indigo Tribe: Indigo-1.

Star Sapphire Corps: Carol Ferris.

I intend to get Lego Batman 3 on the 3DS and Wii U.
