Fuzzy Lumpkins: Classic and Anime

Another installment for my series of pictures comparing Powerpuff Girls characters to their counterparts in the anime Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z.

This time, we will compare Fuzzy Lumpkins to his Powerpuff Girls Z incarnation.

ORIGINAL CARTOON

Not much was given about Fuzzy's backstory, but he was basically a dim-witted pink hairy hillbilly monster who was very territorial. A good way to get him mad would be to trespass on his property or to so much as lay a finger on his belongings.

He may have been an idiot, but his brute strength combined with his violent temper made him a force to be reckoned with.

ANIME

The anime was quite different from the source material, one way being that Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup were unrelated, were 13 years old, and started out as normal girls before gaining their powers.

The girls also gained their powers from getting hit by white Z rays, which were created in an explosion that happened when Professor Utonium's son Ken fired Chemical Z at an iceberg in an attempt to fix Tokyo City's weather problem.

The same explosion unleashed black Z rays, which created all of the villains.

Fuzzy Lumpkins' backstory is shrouded in mystery. It's not made clear whether he was a person or an animal before he was exposed to black Z rays. This wasn't helped by him being one of the few Z ray victims who couldn't be returned to normal by the Professor's Z ray nullifier.

Anime Fuzzy was every bit as territorial as his American counterpart, but he was arguably worse in that aspect because he was able to leave handprints on everything he touched, which enabled him to claim anything as his territory.

He also had a crush on Ms. Bellum, which may have been inspired by that episode from the original show where Fuzzy became the mayor of Townsville, since there was a scene of Mayor Fuzzy making Sara Bellum dress like a country bumpkin girl (sorry if the words I am using are offensive).
