Beware the Batman Wish List

This is a picture depicting villains I hope will appear on Beware the Batman, an upcoming CGI Batman show that will be darker in tone and despite not airing yet is getting a lot of flack because they're choosing to focus on the lesser-known Batman villains and supposedly have no intention of ever using the more famous villains. It's even been said that the villain Anarchy will replace the Joker as Batman's archenemy.

Despite these controversial changes made, I remain hopeful that the show might actually meet up to our expectations. One reason is that despite what the powers-that-be have told us, we might actually see Joker, Penguin, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and the Riddler appear on Beware the Batman eventually. I mean, Batman: The Brave and the Bold used to announce that the Joker wouldn't be appearing, yet the Clown Prince of Crime showed up anyway.

It's a possibility that they will use the more famous Batman villains, they just choose to focus on the more obscure enemies first. And if not that, then they should use the more famous foes of the Dark Knight if the fandom's complaints continue through the show's first season.

The other thing keeping my hopes up is that Ra's Al Ghul will be appearing on the show. He has appeared in other media before, but he also isn't exactly a famous Batman villain. As a result, I have here a few lesser-known Batman villains, most of which are not strangers to television, that I hope will be at least making cameos on Beware the Batman.

1. Clayface- Clayface has appeared quite a bit in the Bat-media. His very first appearance outside the comics, matter of fact, was a cameo in the opening of the old 1960's Adam West show. Obviously, they didn't have CGI back then, so they wouldn't be able to make a shape-changing villain work in live-action.

The Matt Hagen version of Clayface also appeared in the 1970's cartoon The New Adventures of Batman and in the widely-acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series, the latter incarnation also using elements from the Basil Karlo and Preston Payne versions of Clayface.

He's also appeared in The Batman and even a more recent appearance on Young Justice. It is true that those are a lot of appearances, but Clayface isn't exactly that well-known.

I don't really care what version of Clayface appears on Beware the Batman, but I'd especially like it if they used either Basil Karlo or Matt Hagen.

2. Killer Croc- Yet another Batman villain who isn't that well-known despite appearing in a lot of the media is Waylon Jones, better known as the murderous reptilian crook known as Killer Croc.

Killer Croc to this day has appeared on Batman: The Animated Series, The Batman, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and the animated film Batman: Gotham Knight. You can't really say he's been overused, so I remain confident that old Crocky might appear on Beware the Batman.

3. Mr. Zsasz- He hasn't really been used in any television show, but he does appear in the Dark Knight trilogy by Christopher Nolan and in the Arkham video game series.

He may be a psychotic serial killer who etches tally marks into his skin to keep count of his victims, but I don't think he's out of the question. Beware the Batman will be darker than Brave and the Bold, and as I recall, that show didn't exactly shy away from the subject of death. Then again, I'm not sure the censors would be too happy about self-mutilation and Zsasz's tally scars.

4. Bane- His only previous appearances on television and movies are Batman: The Animated Series, the widely-despised Batman and Robin, The Batman, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and the third Dark Knight film.

5. The Ventriloquist and Scarface.

6. Maxie Zeus- He's only ever appeared on Batman: The Animated Series and on The Batman.

7. Last, but not least, the Red Hood. I know that the Red Hood was the Joker's former identity and that the guys behind Beware the Batman intend to avoid doing Joker stories, but not everybody knows about the Red Hood, plus TV Tropes' WMG section on Beware the Batman had a very interesting explanation and justification for his appearance.

It suggested that the Red Hood makes an appearance on the show and falls into a vat of chemicals, but leaves it ambiguous as to what happened to him until fan demand for the Joker to appear gets severe enough that ignoring the demands would be a death wish.

They may be refraining from using the more famous Batman villains, but it's only a matter of time before they give in.
